| The 1840 non commissioned sword was carried by American soldiers for over 70 years; a period which included the Mexican War, Civil War and Spanish American War. The single edged blade has a single broad fuller running from the ricasso to near the point. The entire hilt is cast brass and the grip is ribbed. Pommel is global with a capstan. Grip is flanked by kidney-shaped hand guards. The 1840 NCO sword comes with a steel scabbard. Price includes etching on scabbard! We chemically etch the scabbard with your choice of 2 unit insignias/crests/ranks on either side of up to 4 lines of engraving. This replica cavalry saber has a 34" curved carbon steel blade and a polished nickel-plated steel scabbard. Overall Length: 40" Saber is patterned after the U.S. Model 1860 Light Calvary saber issued prior to the Civil War, and which was used during that period and into the Plains Indians Wars of the 1870s and 1880s.
